Software Engineer
Function
As a Software Engineer you start in a specific business area of the Avaloq banking system and get to know its functionality from the inside. You will receive additional education in financial topics which allows you to understand the banks' requirements based on functional specifications. You will work in a small team in close collaboration with business analysts, product managers and customers. You will design and implement innovative software solutions to meet the customers' needs. You are in charge of the new functionality from the start of a project until it runs smoothly in a productive environment.

Software Engineering
- Analysis of customer requirements in collaboration with clients, business analysts and software partners
- Design, implementation and documentation of new functionality in teamwork with business analysts and technical writers
Maintenance & Support
- Analysis and resolution of new incidents and bugs Consulting

Profile
Education
- A strong Degree award from a reputable university in a relevant technical discipline (2:1 or higher)
- Additional education in Economics is an advantage
Experience
- In-depth knowledge of software engineering
- Competence in one or more high-level programming languages
- Well-founded technical knowledge, preferably in the area of databases

Business Analyst
Function
As a Business Analyst you specialise in a specific banking area to become its expert for Avaloq's current and future functionality. Your background allows you to understand the current software modules of the Avaloq banking system, analyse the needs of customers and document them as coherent functional requirements. You will work in close collaboration with software engineers, product managers and customers to understand the banks’ requirements and meet them with innovative software solutions.

- Identification, analysis and specification of functional and technical customer requirements System Configuration
- Accompanying the technical implementation of the specification
- Analysis and implementation of configuration and parameterisations of reference and customer databases Testing & Documentation
- Creation of test cases for regression testing

- Creation and maintenance of the system documentation in collaboration with technical writers

- Analysis and resolution of customer incidents and tickets

Profile
Education
- M.Sc. in Economics and Information Technology or similar education with relevant work experience

Training Programme
As a new employee you will benefit from their training programme giving you the necessary know-how for a successful Avaloq career.
Overview
The 6-month programme consists of two phases of 3 months:
- The first 3 months in Edinburgh, Scotland
- The second 3 months in Zurich, Switzerland
The first phase includes the following training blocks:
- SCI (System and Company Introduction): This block gives you the big picture of the Avaloq Banking System from an end-user perspective as well as of the company itself.
- MTI (Modules and Tooling Introduction): This block presents the modules of your assigned area in detail, as well as the tools used for software development.
- ACP (Avaloq Certification Programme): This block consists of the Avaloq Academy preparing you for the internationally-recognised Avaloq Certified Professional examination.
- TMT (Target Module Training): This block gives you advanced knowledge of your assigned module using practical work and specific courses.
- TMP (Target Module Project): This block consists of a small project together with your peers in Edinburgh as well as with the team of Zurich.
The second phase (CTT – Core Team Traineeship) consists of a traineeship in Zurich with the core team of your target area, where you get to know the details of your target area as well as the people working in it.
Courses
In parallel to the training you participate in courses that give you targeted knowledge in the area of programming and banking:
- Avaloq Certified Professional academy: This academy gives you the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to obtain the internationally-recognised Avaloq Certified Professional certification.
- Banking today: This optional course gives you a current and comprehensive understanding of the banking business and banking operations.
- Oracle PL/SQL (SE): This course gives you the necessary knowledge to work with PL/SQL in an Oracle environment (and can serve as a basis for an Oracle Certification – this is not, however, part of the Avaloq training programme).
- Requirement engineering course (BA): This course gives you the necessary knowledge to perform qualified requirement analysis and engineering.
- Production academy: This wide range of courses given by the specialists of different areas of the Avaloq Banking System is offered periodically.
