Technip Offshore Wind Ltd (TOWL)
Technip Offshore Wind Ltd (TOWL) is the renewable energy business within Technip. Scotland’s First Minister, Alex Sammond, formally marked the launch of the new UK Offshore Wind business on 1st August 2011 which will be based in Aberdeen with plans in place to grow a €2b turnover company by 2020. Technip have been active within renewables for approximately 5 years on the whole.
In Feb 2010, Technip acquired Subocean Group, a market leading subsea cable installation contractor within the UK offshore wind sector which had gone into administration. Technip seized the opportunity with an initial £10m investment which would see them launch their specialist subsea cable installation business.
Technip Offshore Wind Ltd will be a global business offering mainly focusing on offshore construction and installation. This new business will provide full balance of plant contractor expertise for the offshore wind sector.
Renewables in general within the Technip group covers the following;
- Biofuels
- Solar
- Marine (offshore wind, wave and tidal)
- CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage)
