Scottish Food & Drink Excellence Awards 2016

7 Jun 2016

SFD Awards 2016

It would not be outrageous to say that the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards are the most highly anticipated event for the industry in Scotland and can surely be hailed as the ‘Oscars’ of the sector. It is an event that accelerates growth phenomenally every year, with 2016 bringing a record of 800 food and drink savvy individuals together in celebration of another prosperous year for Scotland Food and Drink.

Out of 245 entries, twenty businesses were selected after a meticulous judging process, and assigned to nine different product-focused categories. From small, grassroots companies such as macaroon expert Macamoon and sweet fruit and herb vinegar maker The Little Herb Farm, to industry giants such as Aldi and Entier Ltd, the broad spectrum of finalists epitomised the cream of Scotland’s booming food and drink industry. Each brand payed homage to Scotland with an array of products such as seaweed flakes sourced locally by hand, piccalilli proudly showcasing a Scottish family’s farming heritage, as well as an assortment of traditional spirits with innovative flair.

Prior, Eden Scott’s Food and Drink team organised a Pre-Award Drinks Reception in anticipation for Awards ceremony. Invaluable socialising and conversing granted further insight into both small and large food and drink businesses, many who had been shortlisted to take the titles of the Excellence Awards. Many thanks to all who were able to attend and we look forward to hosting again next year.

The magnitude of the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards 2016 is not only an inspiration to promote the continuation of extraordinary growth, but undoubtedly foretells of a promising future for years to come.

The list below cites the well-deserving finalists and winners and we firmly echo Scotland Food and Drink Chief Executive James Withers in congratulations:

"Congratulations to all winners and finalists who have been selected from a record number of entries by our panel of more than 35 judges. They recognise the people, products and practices which make Scotland a Land of Food and Drink and represent the wealth of our industry from artisan producers to established brands.” - SFD
