Where Nostalgia and Heritage Flourish

Newhall Estate is a stunning Baronial home with three self-catered cottages, situated in an exquisite setting and surrounded by 1,100 acres of magnificent grounds, all within easy distance to Edinburgh. Rich history and modern conveniences make Newhall an ideal location for any special event.

Elegance through the years

Newhall has been home to generations of families since the 13th century. The main building on the Estate dates back to 1703, when it was constructed by David Forbes. The home has seen its share of additions and alterations since its extension in 1792, but it still maintains its elegant character. See if you can spot tributes to Allan Ramsay’s poem The Gentle Shepherd throughout the home. The walled garden is another great place to look, and it’s perfect for photos too.

Stunning rural location with beautiful holiday cottages, plenty to do and see!

The grounds of the Estate are preserved in history as home to the Glen Walk that was mentioned extensively in The Gentle Shepherd, while the North Esk reservoir is a peaceful place for waterside picnics or fishing. The Estate is home to a collection of natural features, from waterfalls and caves to the surrounding woodland. The exquisite gardens, originally built in 1796, are still tended to by the family. Each season brings a new character to the grounds and often a fresh perspective with which to explore.

The Perfect Event Venue

The opportunities for the perfect wedding day are endless. An inviting atmosphere makes every event feel extraordinary, while the extensive grounds and stunning rooms offer a unique ambience. Whether the ceremony is in our Sunroom, walled garden or newly refurbished Coach House, Newhall offers a relaxing setting for any kind of wedding.

There is also a range of activities like archery, clay pigeon shooting, and 4×4 safaris that make it the perfect location for corporate events.

If I could use one word to describe it here, it would be 'sublime'!"
