NHS Tayside is responsible for commissioning health care services for the residents across Angus, Dundee and Perth & Kinross. The estate includes 3 major and a number of community hospitals, including the University of Dundee's Medical School attached to the regional flagship institute, Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. The region also includes over 60 GP surgeries and a variety of health centres staffed by thousands of employees of the health region.

A permanent opportunity has arisen for the post of Estates Manager - Building & Water Management Lead. You will lead your own team and work closely with the Senior Estates Manager both technically and professionally, in order to meet all building requirements across NHS Tayside.

You will maintain all building fabric, plant and equipment, transport and grounds across NHS Tayside in a satisfactory, operational condition at all times through the provision of a cost-effective maintenance service, to agreed quality, statutory, safety and environmental performance standards, maintaining the highest standard of patient and staff environment and service from the resources available.

The successful candidate may come from NHS or other Sectors with similar Estates needs, and will oversee all building and energy schemes, funded by the Estates Investment Programme from inception to completion, including energy saving measures and preparing, implementing and monitoring service agreements with various external contractors and agencies, including advising on and managing minor works projects.

You will prepare, cost, prioritise and implement in consultation and agreement with the Head of Estates, an annual programme of asset renewal and estates investment comprising planned and reactive building maintenance to maintain NHS Tayside assets at the optimum level.

In addition, you must drive service compliance within agreed statutory, mandatory, safety, environmental, Quality Standards, policies and procedures, whilst devising and managing the necessary procedures to ensure that the quality of water in NHS Tayside properties is maintained.

The postholder will ensure that the NHS Tayside procedures, in relation to the procurement and introduction of all water safety systems, equipment, water plant and pipework are adhered to (WRAS Approved) and that all safety inspections and testing are carried out prior to issue and during the life of the equipment.

Applicants should be qualified to degree level (or equivalent) and hold a recognised qualification in management or have previous relevant training or experience in management skills. Previous experience in Estates management including building & engineering services, equipment & plant is essential. There is also a requirement to hold Engineering Council Registration as a Professional Engineer (or equivalent).
