NHS Tayside is responsible for commissioning health care services for the residents across Angus, Dundee and Perth & Kinross. The estate includes 3 major and a number of community hospitals, including the University of Dundee's Medical School attached to the regional flagship institute, Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. The region also includes over 60 GP surgeries and a variety of health centres staffed by thousands of employees of the health region.

A permanent and exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Senior Estates Manager to join the Estates Division. You will come from NHS or other Hard FM sectors with similar Estates needs. You will have the chance to lead, shape and significantly recruit to grow your team and review approaches to service delivery and apply significant investment in building infrastructure This role offers a great opportunity to make real change and deliver a demonstrable positive impact on the healthcare service and experience for all patients, staff and visitors across Tayside by enhancing the physical environment.

You will help design and implement the strategic development of the Estates Division ensuring the service function and model reflects existing demands and review regularly to adapt to emerging service change. Liaise with colleagues to ensure that Estates Division adapts structure, location and resources to the developing property strategy and clinical demands.

You will develop and manage an all-encompassing Hard FM / Estates service for NHS Tayside, being responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance and repair of all fabric, plant and associated equipment ensuring all is in a satisfactory operational condition through the provision of an evidence based cost-effective maintenance and investment programme to agreed quality, statutory compliance and enhance environmental performance standards.

You must drive service compliance within agreed and monitored standards, by implementing and monitoring related Policies and Procedures to ensure that the infrastructure and environment across NHS Tayside is maintained, delivering the highest standards for a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Key will be your ability to prepare and manage prioritised programme of Estates investment, using risk-based methodology and ensure all asset management data effectively informs the Capital Planning System (CPS), and work in collaboration with Estates colleagues to manage and monitor accuracy on a regular basis through each financial year.

Applicants should be qualified to relevant Degree level and have knowledge of engineering systems. Previous management experience in Estates/Hard FM, including Building & Engineering Services is required. NHS Experience is not essential and applications are welcome from candidates in sectors with Estates needs. It is essential to hold Engineering Council Registration as a Professional Engineer (or equivalent).

You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
