Director of Hospitality, Events & Facilities - Iconic venue
Eden Scott is delighted to be working with an iconic events venue in Edinburgh, to recruit a Director of Hospitality, Events & Facilities.
The venue was opened in 1999 as an events, banqueting and café business. Based in a landmark listed building, it is home to a year-round education and rehearsal activities, as well as performances and other events during the August Festival period.
The venue operates independently as a wholly owned subsidiary of a charitable company. Employing in the region of 30 staff, the venue is supported by Finance, HR and IT functions.
This key appointment as Director of Hospitality, Events & Facilities reports into the Executive Director of the charity and is a key member of the leadership team.
The roles primary objective is to maintain and develop a high-quality events, catering and café business, working to agreed financial targets and to ensure that the building is run efficiently and effectively to optimise revenue. In carrying out this role, the Director of Hospitality, Events & Facilities will balance these commercial objectives with the needs and brand values of the parent charity.
This Director of Hospitality, Events & Facilities position will play a pivotal role in managing the business and operational activities of the trading subsidiary of the charity by:
- Managing and developing the venues events, meetings and catering business in order to optimise revenue
- Managing and maintaining an historic listed building and provide building support services
- Working alongside the team to maximise opportunities for income generation from bars and catering year-round but particularly over the August festival period and to deliver excellent customer service
- Line management responsibilities of a senior team of four: Head of Events, Head of Event Sales, Head Chef and Head of Facilities

Key skills and experience required:
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded senior manager, with a proven track record in motivating a team to deliver high quality service standards. Excellent experience in running a banqueting and events business is essential, as is an understanding of sales and marketing.
Experience in building management and restaurant and café management would be an advantage.

Excellent salary circa £50,000 - £55,000 dependent on skills and experience is on offer plus various generous company benefits in order to secure the right candidate.
