£28331 - £31866 per annum + 42 days holiday, pension 22.5% cont.

Eden Scott's is delighted to be working in partnership with Strathclyde University Students' Association fondly known as Strath Union.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Association as Kitchen Manager, this is a unique opportunity to get involved at the start of an exciting new chapter in the life of over 20,000 students in the heart of Glasgow.

Strath Union strive to enhance the Strathclyde University experience by promoting, representing and supporting students' interests and welfare. Their diverse social, cultural, activity and sporting opportunities offer all students the chance to thrive as they provide a variety of services that are aimed at making sure students have the best possible experience while at university, be that through academic and social support or through the facilities they provide.

The Association have a custom designed, state of the art brand new venue due to open in September 2021. There are four separate outlets and venues to cater for within this space alongside a dedicated events space, meeting rooms and corporate and event catering and functions. This full year dedicated service works to deliver a high quality to students, staff and visitors to the University of Strathclyde.

They are recruiting this vitally important role to ensure that as life returns to some sort of normality post pandemic, the Student Union is in the best possible place to meet the changing needs and demands of tomorrow's students.

The ideal candidate in this position will have been a chef in a busy environment for at least five years, have the ability to work well under pressure, have strong financial & commercial skills along with excellent people, communication, and man-management skills.

The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for running the day-to-day catering operations and services within the Union and ensure that all the outlets perform to a high standard. You must be able to provide quality within a budget and maintain high standards of hygiene and customer satisfaction.

Key skills required:

  • Extensive & demonstrable experience of quality, fast paced catering in a multi-offering environment.
  • Experience of working to budgets & forecasts.
  • Experience of catering management including ordering, pricing, and leading staff.
  • Understanding cafe and catering trends.
  • Aware of H&S reviews and H&S legislation.

Salary of £28,331 - £31,866 depending on experience, this salary rises each year within its pay scale up to the maximum of £31,866, this role is full time and Monday - Friday, occasional evening and weekend work dependent on business needs.
