The Client
Our client is a world leader in the field of defence electronics, an internationally renowned organisation developing and manufacturing cutting-edge products for the global defence sector.
The Role
A fantastic opportunity exists for a Category Manager to join the Category Management team within the electronics division, in which you will be responsible for maintaining, growing and developing relationships with suppliers, specifically within electronics Printed Circuit assembly.
Key responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and coordination of all strategic components of the Category Management for the category strategies under your responsibility to increase the effectiveness and performance of Line of Businesses (LoB) across the UK
- Lead, mentor and develop a group of procurement experts who will assist you in managing and developing category suppliers
- Work with the tactical procurement teams to execute contracts in your category on schedule across the UK which will include undertaking sourcing phase support activities, vendor shortlisting, managing competitive tenders, and contract negotiations.
- Manage and report on market intelligence and supply risk data in cooperation with internal and external stakeholders..
- Take responsibility for interactions with strategic suppliers
- Manage the execution of LCCR (Life Cycle Cost Reduction)
- Monitor adherence to corporate governance and customer flow-down standards, providing necessary support for internal and external audits.
- Check SAP to make sure it reflects the agreements your team will implement.
Role requirement
Ideally degree qualified within an Engineering, Business or associated discipline, you will have a wealth of experience as a Category Manager within a dynamic electronics manufacturing environment. You will have been responsible for evaluating, developing and managing complex contracts, ensuring suppliers meet all requirements in terms of cost, quality and delivery. You will be well versed in leading and managing procurement professionals within the electronics sector ensuring all operational activities meet company development and manufacturing requirements. SAP experience preferred, a background supporting defence sector clients would be a distinct advantage.
