Our client, a highly prestigious and reputable business are seeking to appoint a key hire as Deputy General Manager (NMC Registered) on a permanent, full-time basis in a busy nursing home.

Duties will include:

  • Ensure the smooth day-to day running of the care home under the guidance of Director and General Manager.

  • Work closely with all members of the Management Team to ensure that all registered services are delivered and evidenced in accordance with standards set by the Care Inspectorate.

  • Ensure high standards are delivered at all times to work towards the highest possible grades in the annual Care Inspectorate inspection.

  • Be familiar with Health and Social Care Standards and the SSSC Codes of Practice and to ensure that all relevant policies are updated as required and that staff are fully conversant with them.

  • Regularly review and update all company's policies and procedures and always ensure staff's adherence to them.

  • Plan and oversee duty rotas for nursing and care staff in accordance with agreed staffing levels and budget.

  • Provide regular communication with Service Users, relatives and staff and other stakeholders as appropriate.

  • Undertake direct nursing and general care work as needed (i.e. to cover sickness or holidays).

  • Supervise the service delivery ensuring individual nutritional requirements are met.

  • Work as a mentor for students.

  • Ensure the safe management of medications according to company policy, current legislation and NMC and Scottish Care Inspectorate guidelines.

  • Conduct assessments and care reviews and implement and maintain individual care plans for Service Users in accordance with standards set.

  • Liaise and engage with regulators, GPs and other health and health care professionals.

  • Ensure efficient and effective use of manpower in accordance with the budget and Care Inspectorate requirements.

  • Rota management incorporating accurate digital time management recording.

  • Promote health and safety in the workplace, ensuring a safe environment for employees, residents and visitors always complying with all company health and safety policy requirements.

  • Record all comments and complaints and deal with, in accordance with the Complaints Policy.

  • Report any maintenance issues as required in a timely manner.

  • Provide a systematic and individualized approach to service users' care and services, ensuring individual care plans for each Service User are in place and assessments and care reviews are conducted and evidenced, in accordance with standards set.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the activities programme with the Activities Team Leader to meet the expectations of Service Users, families and the Care Inspectorate.

Essential Attributes:

  • Must be a Registered Nurse

  • Demonstrable experience within a similar role in a nursing home environment.
