Eden Scott is thrilled to be working with our client, a Scottish retailer, to recruit an HR Manager based at their Edinburgh site.



The purpose of the role is to deliver a proactive and flexible HR service, providing relevant and appropriate HR support to all colleagues across the organsiation, whilst delivering best practice and ensuring compliance with company procedures, documented policies and employment legislation.



The role will also support the retail function with internal policies around profit protection, with the objective to mitigate risks against fraud and business loss, H&S compliance and will provide, coordinate and deliver retail/office training in conjunction with senior colleagues.


HR



  • Provide support and guidance to managers with all employee relations issues

  • Develop HR policies and procedures and ensure that these are adhered to

  • Dealing with maternity/paternity/flexible working requests

  • Support and guide managers with all aspects of recruitment and selection - from placing the advert to taking part in interviews to issuing offer of employment/contracts etc

  • Tracking holidays and absences and providing regular updates to managers, reporting to the wider business

  • Maintaining the HR software

  • Providing regular HR reporting

  • Drive HR projects in collaboration with the Directors or Heads of Retail

  • Coordinating the ordering of staff uniforms for the business

  • Reviewing policies and procedures - keeping in line with updates to employment legislation

  • Organising inductions for retail managers

  • Providing support to the Payroll Officer

  • Administer benefits programme

  • Administer and oversee Appraisals

  • Manage recruitment in both Head office and retail outlets


Compliance



  • Develop robust policies and procedures around profit protection, including refunds, colleague discount, cash handling, opening/closing procedures etc.

  • Monitor compliance and investigate irregularities and non-compliance issues. Undertake store audits of procedures

  • Developing reporting for the business on compliance performance and escalate areas of concern

  • Educate and train colleagues on the policies and procedures

  • H&S compliance (weekly targets, store performance)

  • H&S Audits (6 monthly)


Training



  • Organising training to ensure continual improvements and achievement of business objectives in particular office related training

  • Retail specific training: Management Development programme (delivery and co-ordination), Supplier Training (external), Audit instore supplier training (seasonally), H&S (ongoing monitor of portal), Myagi online platform for the outdoor trade
