Scotland has seen a number of flagship projects delivered in recent years. The Queensferry Crossing (formerly the Forth Replacement Crossing) was delivered by the Forth Crossing Constructors Consortium (FCBC), consisting of Dragados, Hochtief, American Bridge and Morrison Construction.
The Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) opened in 2019 and the Edinburgh Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP), being delivered by Network Rail included the modernisation and upgrade of the main railway line and new stations, with Transport Scotland aiming for an increase in capacity of 30%. This project followed quickly on the back of the completion of the Borders Railway by BAM Nuttall as the main contractor for Network Rail.
