Transforming Life Sciences in the North East
Doubling Life Sciences Companies by 2027
The northeast of Scotland is home to leading life sciences research in biologics and a distinct cluster of clinical-stage biotech companies.
The region's goal is to harness these strengths and related asset base to develop one of the most exciting commercial life sciences clusters in the world. And create an international centre for excellence in biologics to build a healthier nation and address modern health epidemics. The target is to double the number of companies in the region's life sciences cluster by 2027.
ONE Life Sciences work with industry, academia and the NHS to create an environment and support programmes that help life sciences businesses, researchers and academics, and health practitioners to commercialise research and ideas, grow the sector and increase its economic impact.
Achieving this will anchor established and growing life sciences businesses in the region, doubling the size of the company base in the area, attracting new partners and securing investment.
ONE provides the network and connections, the entrepreneurial environment and the physical infrastructure to drive life sciences collaboration, innovation and commercialisation in the region.
ONE supports life sciences businesses, academics, researchers and clinicians, people with ideas and life sciences entrepreneurs through:
- Commercialisation workshops and accelerator programmes,
- Marketing and communication training,
- Quarterly life sciences network events,
- Connecting academics and researchers to the commercial world.
