The Journey So Far

Whilst they are considered a market leader, the Group remains a family-owned and operated company.

Chairman and Founder, George Bell, set up his own commercial painting and decorating company in April 1984 – Collins and Bell Ltd – operating throughout the central belt of Scotland.

Since then the business has extended geographically across the UK, providing a wide variety of services to clients including Painting & Decorating, External Upgrades, Interior Refurbishment, Fire Upgrades, Specialist Coatings, Industrial Painting and Reactive Maintenance.

The Group has grown through acquisitions and organically, resulting in a strong network of services, which have been designed to integrate on a local, regional and national basis.

Their key strength as a business is the team they've developed over the years. This is largely down to the comprehensive training programme the Bell Group has for all employees as part of their ongoing commitment to respecting individuals.

Objectives

The Group's main objective is to provide the optimum quality of workmanship in all aspects of their services.

Maintaining these high standards has ensured year-on-year repeat business from BT, Barratt Homes, Scotrail, National Trust, Engie, The Royal Household, and various NHS Trusts, local authorities, and housing associations.

The Bell Group prides itself on more than just the finished product. They seek out business opportunities to build employee and community skills and are considered one of the largest employers of apprentices within the construction industry.

The Community

The Bell Group's Corporate & Social Responsibility and Community teams work extremely hard to provide social dividends to the communities they work in throughout the UK.

Their involvement in other collaborative contracts has brought tremendous value to local communities and helped form remarkable relationships between the company and local communities.

Training Opportunities

Each year, the Bell Group provides over 15,000 hours of Voluntary Trade and Non-Trade Work Experience Placements in various trades, including painting, joinery, multi-trade, bricklaying, plastering, administration, surveying, and resident liaison.

Their Work Placement Programme usually involves 2-weeks experience with many leading to full time paid work placements, apprenticeships or full-time employment.

All candidates are included in their CITB training and CSCS registration plan upon award of a full-time place.

"We have always had a social conscience and tried to use the work that we do to make a positive impact. I see many businesses today trying to emulate us, but fundamentally, you have to believe in the work you are doing and it has to form part of the DNA of your business if you want to drive real change."
