Ian Macleod Distillers own some of the world’s best loved spirit brands, including Glengoyne, Tamdhu, Smokehead and Edinburgh Gin. They are proud to be a values-driven company that forges relationships that last a lifetime, be that with customers, partners or colleagues.
The organisation remains one of the most widely respected Scottish independent family firms in the spirits industry, with four generations of expertise, distilling, blending and bottling to their name. 80 years on, the family has grown, and today their enviable portfolio comprises several much-loved, world-class premium Scotch whisky, gin, and rum brands.
Challenge
In 2019 Ian Macleod Distillers got in touch with Eden Scott Business Director and tourism recruitment expert, Sally Rae. The company explained they were branching out into visitor attractions, and were looking to appoint a critical role to support their operational delivery.
IMD was seeking an exceptional candidate that would be a great cultural fit for the business. They chose to partner with Eden Scott due to our specialist tourism recruitment provision.
Process
An ASVA (Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions) board director, Sally met with IMD’s HR lead to get to know the company’s culture and learn more about their next chapter.
The initial vacancy was for a Group Brand Homes Operations Manager. Timelines were agreed and the process started with an intensive three-week search, where we sourced and screened suitable candidates. We created a featured page on the Eden Scott website to provide insights about the company to candidates we approached.
Success
Following a rigorous candidate selection process, including a vetted longlist, short list and interview support, IMD successfully appointed their new Group Brand Homes Operations Manager, who remains with the business today.
In 2022, IMD approach Sally again to progress their tourism and visitor attraction offering to their Edinburgh Gin and Rosebank brands. We appointed four more talented individuals – two Brand Homes Managers and two Sales and Marketing leads, who are also still in their roles today.
