Ember
A Vital Part Of Our #NetZero Ambition

Transforming Transport
Launched in October 2020, Ember was the UK’s first 100% electric intercity coach service and, at the time, was understood to be one of the first services of its kind in the world.
Ember started with two coaches that made the regular 125-mile roundtrip between Dundee and Edinburgh on a single charge.
The journey generally takes just over 90 minutes one way and provides residents and tourists with an eco and user-friendly route that is currently underserved. Bookings are made online and travellers can track buses in real-time using an app on their phones.

Well Funded and Growing
Ember worked with Triodos Bank UK to secure new lending as part of the government’s Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS).
They acquired a £490,000 loan which helped the company to purchase two all-electric coaches for its routes between Dundee and Edinburgh.
They chose Dundee because of the city's commitment to renewable energy and electric vehicles. However, as the business grows the team at Ember are keen to add more routes.

It's an exciting time to join the team at Ember. They have developed a fantastic group of passionate individuals, led by co-founders Keith Bradbury and Pierce Glenny.
