An established and growing pensions specialist is seeking an experienced Senior Pensions Administrator to join its expanding team. This role offers the opportunity to play a central part in delivering high-quality administration services to pension scheme members and trustee boards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of Defined Benefit (DB) pension schemes. This includes providing accurate and timely benefit calculations, maintaining strong governance standards, and ensuring all work is completed in line with regulatory requirements.
In addition to technical responsibilities, the role involves acting as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders, offering guidance and resolving queries effectively. The individual will also support and oversee junior team members, reviewing work, providing feedback, and contributing to their ongoing development.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the administration of Defined Benefit pension schemes on a day-to-day basis
- Handle complex member cases, including non-standard benefit calculations
- Act as a main contact for scheme members, trustees, and professional advisers
- Check and authorise work produced by less experienced colleagues
- Ensure service delivery meets agreed standards and deadlines
- Contribute to scheme projects such as reconciliations, wind-ups, and communications exercises
- Identify process improvements and actively support operational efficiency
- Provide technical input to support business development activities where required
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in Defined Benefit pension administration
- Strong understanding of UK pensions legislation and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrable experience handling complex pension calculations and queries
- Ability to review and sign off work accurately
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proactive approach with the ability to work independently
Additional Experience (Desirable)
- Exposure to client or trustee meetings
- Experience mentoring or coaching colleagues
- Involvement in project work or new business opportunities
