Scottish-based award-winning software development agency

Zudu is a multi-award-winning software development agency based in Dundee and Edinburgh that recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in July 2024. The agency is originally Dundee-based and expanded to Edinburgh shortly after the summer.

The teams at Zudu possess extensive experience in delivering projects across the public and private sectors, specialising in custom website, web app, and mobile app development. Notably, in the past year, the agency participated in the CivTech Accelerator Programme, collaborating with the Scottish Government to develop an industry-first software-as-a-service product. This product streamlines the creation, application, and enforcement processes for digital licences. In its initial application, the new product, ePass, will power the Register of Tobacco and Nicotine Vapour Product Retailers in Scotland, with additional use cases currently in development. This project represents CivTech's largest undertaking to date, with Zudu serving as the sole company responsible for its delivery.

In addition, Zudu is a recognised supplier on the G-Cloud 14 Government framework, among other frameworks, solidifying its status as a trusted UK-wide provider. The company is also ISO 27001 (security) and ISO 9001 (quality) certified, having passed audits successfully for two consecutive years since receiving its first accreditation in 2023.

Embracing new ways of working

Zudu was founded on the principle that there should be a better way to build software—one that is user-friendly, modern, and powerful. The agency’s teams are passionate about their work and continuously strive for improvement by pursuing training courses and attending conferences with a variety of companies and specialists to deepen their understanding of emerging technologies and their applications.

Zudu embraces innovative working methods, new strategies, and experimentation, approaching challenges with confidence. Despite a strong work ethic, the team has fostered an open and friendly environment, creating a relaxed workplace where everyone feels included and supported. This inclusive culture extends to client interactions, where Zudu prioritises helping clients make informed decisions by demystifying jargon and explaining technical concepts in a user-friendly manner. Many clients have praised the agency for its ability to clearly communicate complex processes and make its services accessible to wider audiences.

This commitment to clarity and inclusivity is a core value for Zudu, underpinning its vision to grow the company further and develop even better technology in the years to come. The agency’s welcoming approach remains a key strength in achieving these goals.

The Future

Zudu is thrilled about the rapid growth of the company, particularly with the introduction of ePass. The dedicated ePass team now comprises six full-time staff members, supported by additional contributors from the wider Zudu team. The agency eagerly anticipates the launch of its first ePass instance in January and is currently in discussions for two additional instances scheduled for 2025–2027. During this time, Zudu will also focus on fundraising and seeking investor support.

The agency aims to expand both sides of the business, continuing to deliver high-quality bespoke products under the Zudu brand while growing its software-as-a-service (SaaS) offerings through ePass.
