All About Common Thread
Common Thread offers therapeutic residential care and education to children between 8 and 18 years of age. The company was founded by Julie Joseph in 2004 with the mission to lead in the creation and provision of innovative healing environments for children and young people who have been hurt by trauma, abuse, and neglect.
Young people are our primary focus, and this belief is shared by all staff members, carers, and support workers.
The company has grown organically over the years, expanding across Scotland from two houses in Dumfries and Galloway to delivering care in the Central Belt and Scottish Highlands.
The company now has 15 homes across Scotland and, since 2009, is also an Independently Registered School with two education hubs based in Lockerbie and Kilmarnock. Common Thread is now looking to consolidate our success and shape the company for the future.

The Future
The company is looking to further develop our therapeutic approaches to supporting young people and to become sector-leading in this regard.
In doing so we want to acknowledge our most valuable asset in our staff who will be supported and developed in their role to provide the best possible care to the young people we look after.
We want to become the employer of choice in our sector for staff and provide a supportive working environment with development opportunities. To support this, we plan to grow our offering for both our residential homes and education hubs to a wider geographic reach.
