An established and growing wealth management business is seeking an experienced Paraplanner to join its financial planning support team in central Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys technical financial planning work, conducting research, producing high-quality suitability reports, and supporting advisers in delivering outstanding client outcomes. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting advisers with a broad range of financial planning cases, while also contributing to the development of colleagues and helping drive continuous improvement across the business.
This position offers the chance to work on a variety of client scenarios involving investments, pensions and tax-efficient planning solutions. The role combines technical expertise, analytical thinking and strong communication skills to help ensure recommendations are suitable, compliant and aligned to clients' objectives.
Working within a collaborative team environment, the Paraplanner will be encouraged to contribute ideas, share best practice, and support the ongoing enhancement of processes and client service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare high-quality suitability reports and recommendation documents.
- Conduct technical research and financial analysis to support client advice.
- Produce cashflow modelling and planning projections.
- Assist with tax calculations and product comparisons where required.
- Ensure all client communications and documentation are accurate, timely and compliant.
- Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and professional development.
- Maintain accurate client records within internal systems.
- Liaise effectively with professional connections and third-party providers.
- Contribute to business projects, process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Keep up to date with industry regulations and compliance requirements.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated and technically capable Paraplanner who takes pride in delivering quality work and exceptional support to advisers and clients.
You will demonstrate:
- Strong report-writing and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Confidence working independently while remaining a collaborative team player.
- Experience using financial planning research tools, cashflow modelling software and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience within a paraplanning role.
- Strong knowledge of pensions, investments and financial planning products.
- Experience preparing suitability reports and supporting regulated advice processes.
- Progress towards, or completion of, a recognised Level 4 financial planning qualification would be advantageous.
- Strong numerical and analytical capability.
