About Orbital Marine Power
Orbital Marine Power is a Scottish renewable energy company developing and manufacturing world-leading tidal turbine technology to drive the commercialisation of tidal stream energy for global application.
The company has designed, engineered, and manufactured a purpose-built floating platform that captures tidal energy efficiently while minimising environmental impact. In doing so, Orbital is creating a new class of renewable generation that complements wind and solar, strengthens grid resilience, and contributes to a balanced and secure energy system.
A major pillar of Orbital’s vision is industrialisation:
- building a robust domestic supply chain,
- expanding into global tidal markets, and
- positioning tidal power as a mainstream component of national energy mixes.
The company already sources much of its manufacturing within the UK and sees tidal energy as a driver of long-term economic value, export opportunities, and local job creation.
Values
It is an exciting time full of opportunities at Orbital, where progress is driven by curiosity, shared effort, and a willingness to try, test, and improve.
The company aims to cultivate a positive, friendly, and inclusive environment where people can perform at their best and feel genuinely valued for the contributions they make.
Employees are trusted to think independently, adapt quickly, and get involved wherever their skills are most useful.

Where Next For Orbital Marine?
The next phase for Orbital is one of commercial scale-up. New investment rounds, secured in late 2025, are earmarked to accelerate deployment of next-generation turbines, double their order book, and expand project development both in the UK and internationally.
This includes confirmed Contracts for Difference (CfDs) for 16.8 MW, seven additional turbines, to be deployed at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney, joining existing O2 units and collectively powering an estimated 18,000 homes with predictable tidal electricity.
International growth is also accelerating. Orbital recently secured major project assets for 6 x O2-X deployments in Nova Scotia, Canada, with licenses for the first 3 x O2-X turbines issued, an important step in establishing their technology in the world’s highest-energy tidal regions.
Additional opportunities are forming in other global markets as governments seek reliable, climate-proof renewable solutions. With new investors such as PXN Ventures and continued support from Scottish Enterprise, Orbital is positioned to transition from pioneering demonstration projects into full commercial arrays, strengthening both domestic manufacturing and the global tidal energy sector.
