Financial adviser

  • Glasgow
  • 65,000 - 75,000 Annual
  • Permanent

An established, privately owned financial planning firm based in Glasgow is looking to appoint an experienced Financial Adviser to join its advisory team. This opportunity arises due to the planned retirement of a long-standing adviser, offering the successful candidate access to an established and well-maintained portfolio of clients.

The incoming adviser will inherit a client bank of no fewer than 120 households, with potential for this number to be higher as accounts are carefully apportioned across the wider team. The portfolio is diverse in nature, combining individual private client relationships with more complex arrangements.

Clients include those with corporate benefit schemes such as group life cover and group personal pensions, alongside higher-value trust-based cases and relationships involving discretionary fund managers. As such, the role requires a detail-oriented professional with the technical depth and confidence to manage more sophisticated planning scenarios.

Responsibilities

  • Providing full financial planning advice across investments, pensions, protection and estate planning
  • Managing and developing an existing client base, ensuring ongoing suitability and strong client engagement
  • Handling more complex cases, including trust structures and corporate arrangements
  • Building relationships with associated professionals and external investment managers
  • Identifying and progressing new business opportunities within the client bank and wider network
  • Maintaining high standards of compliance and suitability in line with regulatory expectations

Support & Structure

Advisers benefit from comprehensive in-house support, including dedicated paraplanning and administrative teams who assist with report writing, case preparation and processing. This allows advisers to focus on client relationships and advice delivery rather than administrative workload.

About the Individual

This role would suit an established Financial Adviser with:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a client-facing advisory role
  • Strong technical capability and attention to detail
  • Experience of managing complex cases and varied client needs
  • A professional, relationship-focused approach
  • Relevant industry qualifications (Level 4 Diploma or above preferred)

Rewards & Incentives

  • Competitive base salary
  • Highly attractive bonus structure, including new business bonuses paid from first submission (no validation threshold)
  • Clear, progressive bonus tiers rewarding higher levels of production
  • Full support infrastructure to maximise client-facing time

The Business

The firm offers a stable and supportive working environment, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and long-term client relationships. It remains fully independent and has no intention of being acquired. Instead, its strategy is centred on measured growth, including acquiring additional client portfolios where appropriate to strengthen its market position.

This is an opportunity for an experienced adviser to step into a warm, well-supported environment with immediate access to clients, strong earning potential, and the chance to play a meaningful role in the ongoing growth of a progressive advisory business.  Please note your interest in this position as soon as possible/ apply now to have a confidential discussion with Alison Curran prior to progressing.
