Senior financial planner, Head of wealth

  • Edinburgh
  • 75,000 - 90,000 Annual
  • Permanent

An established and highly respected professional services business is seeking to appoint one of two newly created Financial Planner roles as part of a long-term growth and succession strategy. With a loyal client base, increasing demand for advice services and significant internal support infrastructure, this is an opportunity to inherit and develop an existing portfolio while enjoying a genuinely autonomous approach to client management and work environment.

The positions can be based from either Edinburgh or Fife and offer exceptional flexibility around working arrangements. The environment is collaborative, supportive and close-knit, with advisers trusted to manage their own schedules and client relationships without unnecessary oversight.

The successful individual in the Head of Wealth/ Senior financial planner position will act as the lead adviser for an established portfolio of private clients, delivering comprehensive financial planning across retirement, investment, estate and wealth preservation needs. This role is ideally suited to an experienced planner who enjoys building long-term relationships and providing strategic advice that evolves alongside clients' changing objectives.  Ideally with circa 5 years experience in a financial advice role, as this position would deal with more complex cases and "lead" the small but experienced team of advisers - without overall management responsibilities.

Working alongside an experienced team of technical specialists and client support professionals, the adviser will benefit from high-quality internal resources while retaining full ownership of advice delivery and client outcomes.

Key Areas of Focus

  • Providing holistic financial planning and wealth management advice
  • Conducting periodic client reviews and maintaining ongoing relationships
  • Helping clients navigate retirement planning, investment strategies and intergenerational wealth considerations
  • Developing tailored planning solutions for business owners, professionals and retirees
  • Working collaboratively with technical and administrative colleagues to deliver an exceptional client experience
  • Contributing to the continued growth and development of the wider advice function

About the Individual

Applications are welcomed from advisers with a strong background in regulated financial planning who are comfortable managing established client relationships and handling more complex planning discussions.

Candidates are likely to possess:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (or equivalent)
  • Current Statement of Professional Standing (SPS)
  • Significant experience providing regulated financial advice within the UK market
  • Strong relationship management and communication skills
  • Sound technical knowledge across pensions, investments and tax-efficient planning strategies
  • A consultative and client-focused approach
  • Chartered status, or progress towards Chartered qualifications, would be advantageous but is not essential.

Why Consider This Role?

  • One of two brand-new appointments within a growing advice team
  • Existing client relationships available from the outset
  • Strong succession and long-term career prospects
  • Flexible approach to location and working pattern
  • Supportive, non-corporate culture with genuine autonomy
  • Well-established professional firm with an excellent local reputation
  • Close collaboration with experienced technical and support colleagues
  • Opportunity to focus on client outcomes rather than business development targets

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Financial Adviser seeking greater flexibility, autonomy and long-term career security within a professional, people-focused business that values quality advice and enduring client relationships above sales-driven metrics.  There are no requirements to bring clients, but greater flexibility with salary etc can be positioned if they were indeed to come across.  To discuss the role further and to get more information please send in your cv by applying now for a discussion with Alison Curran in confidence prior to progressing.
