Remote Working Available | Sites Across Scotland

An established environmental consultancy is looking to appoint an Ecological Clerk of Works to support a growing portfolio of renewable energy, infrastructure, residential and commercial projects across Scotland. Opportunities are available for candidates based near Inverness, Edinburgh or Glasgow, though the role offers remote working when not required on site.

This is an excellent opportunity to take a hands-on role in ecological delivery, working within a supportive, multi-disciplinary team and contributing to some of Scotlands most significant development projects.

Role Overview

As an Ecological Clerk of Works, you will provide day-to-day ecological supervision and monitoring on construction and development sites. You will ensure that ecological mitigation and protection measures are implemented effectively, while supporting contractors and project teams with practical, proportionate advice.

Projects span a wide range of sectors, including onshore wind, grid infrastructure, solar, residential development and commercial schemes. You will play a key role in ensuring compliant project delivery through site inspections, ecological supervision, record-keeping and responding to ecological issues as they arise.

Ensure mitigation and environmental protection measures are implemented correctly

Support protected species requirements and ecological constraints

Maintain accurate site records and reporting

Provide practical, solution-focused advice to contractors and clients

Contribute to the delivery of ecological elements across small to medium-scale projects

Mentor junior ECoWs and support team development where required

Use digital tools for data capture, mapping and reporting

Proven experience as an ECoW or in a similar ecological consultancy role

Strong field skills and knowledge of UK wildlife legislation

Confident communicator able to work independently and make defensible decisions on site

Desirable

   Protected species licences (NatureScot)

   4x4 training

   First Aid certification

   Experience supporting licensed works

   GIS or digital data-capture experience

Equivalent experience will be considered where appropriate.

Working Environment

This is a site-based role with regular travel across Scotland and occasional overnight stays. Remote working is available for non-site tasks, but the role will primarily involve time on construction sites and travel between project locations. Flexibility in working patterns is required to meet project needs.

Why This Role?

   Competitive salary (£3545k)

   Car allowance

   Remote working flexibility

Opportunity to work on nationally significant renewable and infrastructure projects

   Supportive, collaborative team environment
