Eden Scott Accountancy & Finance is delighted to be supporting a well-established organisation in Glasgow to recruit an experienced Payroll Manager on a 12-week temporary contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled payroll professional to take ownership of a complex, end-to-end payroll function within a fast-paced and demanding environment. Working on a hybrid basis (3 days in the office), you will play a key role in ensuring payroll operations are delivered accurately, efficiently and in line with all statutory and organisational requirements.
You will operate with a high degree of autonomy while also engaging regularly with internal and external stakeholders, providing expert guidance on payroll matters and managing a Payroll Administrator.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end payroll function, including fee paid contracts, ensuring all payments are accurate and processed on time
- Prepare and input all payroll data, maintaining responsibility for records and statutory returns
- Process payroll payment files via BACS, ensuring appropriate authorisation protocols are followed
- Complete monthly reconciliations of payroll, including net pay, PAYE, NI, pensions and related accounts
- Reconcile payroll records to the finance nominal ledger and support year-end audit requirements
- Handle queries from staff and external agencies relating to payroll, taxation, pensions and employment status
- Process pay awards, increments and ad hoc statutory returns
- Maintain detailed payroll analysis and provide reporting to senior finance leadership
- Line manage the Payroll Administrator, including workload planning, performance management and development reviews
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in payroll administration and management within a complex environment
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems and accounting processes
- Experience preparing reconciliations and working with nominal ledger accounts
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Sound knowledge of employment and payroll legislation
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Experience managing or supervising staff
- High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
