Senior HR Advisor

Location: Aberdeen (Hybrid Working - 3 days office / 2 days home)

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior HR Advisor to join a dynamic and growing organisation based in Aberdeen. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional looking to take the next step in their career and who enjoys working in a hands-on generalist role, partnering with managers and employees to deliver high-quality HR support across the business.

Reporting into senior leadership and working closely with a global HR function, you will play a key role in supporting day-to-day HR operations, employee relations matters, people initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

HR Advisory & Employee Support

  • Act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries from managers and employees.
  • Provide practical, commercially focused HR advice and guidance.
  • Support the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, development, and offboarding activities.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies, procedures, and employment legislation.

Employee Relations

  • Advise and support managers on employee relations matters including absence management, disciplinary processes, performance management, and grievances.
  • Facilitate investigations, meetings, and documentation where required.
  • Escalate complex cases appropriately while ensuring risks are effectively managed.

Manager Coaching & Support

  • Build strong relationships with leaders across the business.
  • Coach managers on best practice people management and HR processes.
  • Support workforce planning and organisational development initiatives.

HR Administration & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems.
  • Support payroll and benefits administration by ensuring employee data is accurate and up to date.
  • Produce HR metrics and reports to support business decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal policies.

Engagement, Performance & Development

  • Support employee engagement initiatives and wellbeing activities.
  • Assist with performance management processes and development discussions.
  • Contribute to learning and development activities and talent initiatives.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Support HR projects and organisational change initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, and ways of working.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the HR function.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a Senior HR Advisor or equivalent HR generalist role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Experience managing employee relations cases from start to finish.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to build credibility and influence at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
  • Proficiency with HR systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

  • CIPD Level 5 qualified (or above).
  • Experience within the energy, engineering, industrial, manufacturing, or technical sectors.
  • Experience supporting change management and HR projects.
