About Balgove
Established in 2010, Balgove Larder has grown from a modest rural enterprise into one of Fife’s most recognisable food destinations. From the outset, the aim was to create a place where the finest Scottish food and drink could be sourced in one setting, including seasonal produce from the estate’s own farms and award-winning meat prepared by traditionally skilled butchers. Over time, former farm buildings were carefully developed into a collection of welcoming spaces that now include the Farm Shop, Steak Barn, Butchery, Garden Shed, Homestore and Café. This steady expansion reflects a commitment to authenticity and quality, which continues to attract both local residents and visitors who value traceable, Scottish produce of a high standard.
Today, Balgove Larder is located just outside St Andrews on the Strathtyrum Estate and is widely recognised for its celebration of exceptional Scottish ingredients.
Sustainability
Balgove Larder’s sustainability ethos is grounded in a deep respect for land, livestock and local food culture. Their approach focuses on minimising environmental impact by keeping produce as close to its source as possible, with food grown or raised on the farm travelling only a short distance before reaching customers.
This commitment extends to their butchery, where free-range animals are reared on the farm and seasonal game is responsibly sourced. High standards of animal welfare underpin every stage of production, while their café and shop champion home-grown and locally sourced ingredients that reflect a genuinely sustainable Scottish food identity
