Eden Scott is delighted to be working with the Scottish SPCA, a Charity founded in 1839 and one that over 90% of the population of Scotland know and value for what they do for domestic, farm and wild animals.

They employ over 300 colleagues and have 900 volunteers who have joined the fight to stop animals suffering. High on passion, endless in energy, committed to ensuring all creatures are treated well at the hands of humans and have animal centres across Scotland, including Inverness, Aberdeenshire, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The Charity is undergoing an exciting period of renewal and innovation, and is forward-facing, increasingly brave, and fearless in its fight to stop animals suffering.

With close to 45,000 regular supporters they are the largest and leading animal welfare Charity in Scotland and are in the hearts of the public, the ears of politicians and the eyes of the media.

They are now seeking a Head of Centre Operations to join the team.

This exciting new position operationally drives and delivers the heart of what the Scottish SPCA is here to do. You will ensure that there is operational excellence in every Scottish SPCA animal centre, developing and embedding their standards through the team ensuring that the highest standards of animal welfare, care and customer experience are delivered consistently across the centre network – from their rescue and rehoming centres to the National Wildlife Centre.

You will be the operational driver for their centres: setting clear standards, providing hands-on support and escalation when it is needed, and creating the conditions for Centre Managers and their teams to thrive and develop their capability.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Strong operational leadership experience, ideally at a senior level across multiple sites or a network of facilities.
  • Strong track record of setting standards, driving continuous improvement and delivering consistent performance at scale with geographically dispersed teams.
  • Sound commercial and budgetary management skills, with experience of owning operational income and expenditure.
  • Practiced in fostering an inclusive culture, where feedback and collaboration are promoted to support continuous improvement.
  • Experience of organisational change and service transformation.

Key skills and experience required:

  • A calm, credible and confident decision-maker who provides support and clear escalation without taking ownership away from the managers you lead.
  • Excellent people and stakeholder management skills, with an ability to inspire, motivate and develop managers, teams and supporters.
  • Excellent judgement and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure or in emotionally charged situations.
  • A positive, solutions-focused attitude, comfortable with organisational change and driving ambitious transformation across a business.
  • A strong attention to detail and an analytical approach.
  • Resilient and able to adapt to navigate complexity.

This role offers an excellent competitive salary within the range of £55,109.60 - £61,388.60 negotiable depending on experience.
