Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Ecologist to become part of a well-established and highly regarded ecology team.

The Role
As a Senior Ecologist, you will take ownership of a varied portfolio of projects, providing technical expertise and ecological guidance throughout the planning and development process. Working closely with clients, regulators and multidisciplinary teams, you will help deliver practical, commercially focused solutions that balance development needs with environmental best practice.
You will play a key role in ecological surveys, habitat assessments, reporting, mitigation design and stakeholder engagement, while supporting the successful delivery of projects across Scotland and the wider UK.
Depending on experience, there will also be opportunities to mentor junior ecologists and contribute to team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and oversee ecological surveys, assessments and technical reports
- Provide pragmatic ecological advice in line with legislation, planning policy and industry best practice
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring programmes, budgets and quality standards are achieved
- Support fee proposals, tenders and project financial management
- Develop mitigation strategies and support protected species licensing requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators and key stakeholders
- Collaborate with specialists across planning, landscape architecture, hydrology and environmental disciplines
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a positive, high-performing team culture
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Experience within ecological consultancy
- A degree in Ecology or a related environmental discipline (Master's degree desirable)
- Associate Membership of CIEEM or working towards full membership
- Strong knowledge of Scottish planning policy and environmental legislation
- Experience undertaking UKHab and habitat condition assessments
- Proven experience in ecological survey design, assessment and reporting
- Knowledge of mitigation strategies and protected species licensing
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Scotland and the UK
