Senior Automation Tester / Quality Engineer
Hybrid | Glasgow and surrounding areas
We’re looking for an experienced Automation Tester / Quality Engineer who enjoys building things, solving technical problems and finding better ways to deliver quality software.
This isn’t a traditional test execution role. You will have real ownership of the automation approach, helping us build on what is already there and shape how quality engineering develops as the business grows.
You will work closely with developers, product teams and other stakeholders, helping to make quality part of the development process rather than something that happens at the end.
What you will be doing
Build, maintain and evolve automated tests across web and API layers.
Develop and improve the automation framework and the way we use it.
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and help make delivery faster and more reliable.
Work with developers to improve testability and catch problems earlier.
Investigate defects and technical issues, getting beyond the symptom to understand the cause.
Improve test coverage, reliability and the overall developer testing experience.
Explore new tools, technologies and AI-assisted approaches where they can genuinely improve the way we work.
Help shape our wider approach to quality engineering and share good practice across the team.
What we are looking for
You’ll have solid hands-on experience in automation and be comfortable getting into the technical detail. You don’t need to have used every tool listed below, but you should have a strong understanding of automation principles and be able to learn new technologies quickly.
Ideally, you’ll have experience with:
Automated testing of SaaS or cloud-based applications.
Frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar.
API testing and automation.
JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Python or C#.
CI/CD and automated software delivery.
Modern software engineering and Agile practices.
Just as important, we are looking for someone who is curious, pragmatic and willing to challenge the way things are done. Someone who can look at an existing process and think, “There’s probably a better way of doing this.”
You will be comfortable working independently, but equally happy getting stuck into problems with developers and product teams.
It would be great if you also have experience with
AI-assisted testing or AI development tools.
Cloud platforms and containerised environments.
Performance, security or resilience testing.
Observability and monitoring.
Working in a smaller or high-growth SaaS environment.
What you will have the opportunity to do
This is a role where you can genuinely shape how quality engineering works within the business.
You will have the freedom to influence automation strategy, introduce better tooling, experiment with emerging technologies and help establish engineering practices that will scale with the product.
If you are someone who enjoys building automation rather than simply maintaining a suite of tests, and you want to have a real voice in how quality is approached, we’d like to hear from you.
