Location: Stirling (Hybrid)
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000
A small specialist environmental consultancy is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join its close-knit, experienced team. You’ll work on a range of ecological and environmental projects across the UK, gaining exposure to varied technical work while collaborating directly with senior practitioners.
The company delivers practical, evidence-led solutions across ecology, hydrology, biodiversity, and habitat management, with a strong focus on clear communication and client relationships.
The Role
You will lead ecological input across projects, combining fieldwork, reporting, and project management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead ecological surveys, including ornithology surveys (VP and breeding bird surveys)
- Manage small to medium projects and client relationships
- Prepare and review reports, assessments, and licence applications
- Support habitat management and restoration work
- Mentor junior staff and support project delivery
Travel & Fieldwork:
Due to current project commitments, regular travel and working away from home is required.
- Approximately 1 week in every 4 spent in England (wind and solar projects)
- Additional project work across the Central Belt
Requirements:
- Relevant degree and strong ecological experience
- Proven ornithology experience (VP and breeding bird surveys)
- Experience managing projects and technical reporting
- Good knowledge of UK environmental legislation
- Strong communication and organisational skills
